WILDFOOD Mid-term Conference & Policy Forum, 26-27 May 2022
WILDFOOD is a PRIMA funded project (2020-2023). The overall aim of WildFood is to promote the implementation of joint innovative strategies by involving different actors of the Wild Food Products value-chains in the Mediterranean area, focusing on selected products (mushrooms, truffles, aromatic plants, pine nuts, and acorns) in view of improving their quality and safety controls and sustainability.

CARE-MEDIFLORA project publication becomes winner of 2022 Diversity Best Paper Award
The CARE-MEDIFLORA project final publication "Common Approach to the Conservation of Threatened Island Vascular Plants: First Results in the Mediterranean Basin." published in the Diversity journal Volume 12 (2020), Issue 4 was announced winner of the 2022 Diversity Best Paper Award.

GENMEDA General Assembly meeting at Chania, Crete, 27 September 2021
The General Assembly annual meeting of GENMEDA took place at CIHEAM-MAICh, Chania, Crete on 27 September 2021. It was a “hybrid” meeting with 17 persons participating physically and another 21 virtually. This meeting took place in combination with the 3rd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week (3MPCW), 27 September - 1 October 2021, which was co-organised by the GENMEDA team.

3dr Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week - SAVE THE NEW DATES!
After postponement of the 3rd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week (3MPCW) due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new dates are 27 September to 1 October 2021. The conference will be held at the International Conference Centre of CIHEAM Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (MAICh), Crete, Greece.

GENMEDA becomes partner network of RESEDA-Flore
The RESEDA-Flore network (Reseau d’acteurs pour la conservation de la flore méditerranéenne) is an initiative of the GENMEDA member Conservatoire Botanique National Méditerranéen of Porquerolles (CBNMed). Created in 2018, RESEDA-Flore is the very first network working all over the French Mediterranean territory for the conservation of flora.

CARE-MEDIFLORA capitalisation in Crete with new project for threatened plants
The experience acquired from CARE-MEDIFLORA serves as a foundation for a new 3-year project to protect threatened plants of Crete: “Development of a methodology for the enhancement and protection of populations of endangered plant species in Crete. Pilot implementation in the Prefecture of Chania”.

After CARE-MEDIFLORA actions in Crete
The Mediterranean Plant Conservation Unit (MPCU) of MAICh has secured funding for the follow-up of the in situ actions for Horstrissea dolinicola Greuter, P. Gerstberger & B. Egli and Androcymbium rechingeri Greuter, two taxa for which in situ actions were implemented in Crete during the CARE-MEDIFLORA project.

CARE-MEDIFLORA final publication
CARE-MEDIFLORA, "Conservation Actions for Threatened Mediterranean Island Flora: ex situ and in situ joint actions", is a project which was successfully completed by institutions of six Mediterranean islands, all of which are members of GENMEDA, and the Mediterranean Plant Specialist Group (IUCN/SSC).

The 3rd GENMEDA meeting supported by CARE-MEDIFLORA took place at the Botanical Garden ‘Sapienza’, Rome. This meeting was joint with CARE-MEDIFLORA which had its final project meeting on the same premises on 29 May.

The annual meeting of GENMEDA took place in Malta, 12 November 2018, under the support of the ‘CARE-MEDIFLORA’ project. It was within the 2nd Mediterranean Plant Conservation Week which took place place at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus, Malta from 12 to 16 November 2018.
