Conservation Actions for Threatened Mediterranean Island Flora: ex situ and in situ joint actions

April 2016 - December 2018

CARE-MEDIFLORA aims to improve the conservation status of threatened Mediterranean plant species. It is a project implemented by institutions of six Mediterranean islands (Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, Crete and Cyprus) and the IUCN/SSC Mediterranean Plant Specialist Group.

ECOPLANTMED

ECOlogical use of native PLANTs for environmental restoration and sustainable development in the MEDiterranean region

January 2014 - December 2015

ECOPLANTMED aims to contribute to halting the loss of biodiversity and to promote a sustainable development model in the Mediterranean region by enhancing the conservation of native plants and promoting their use in habitat restoration and the plant production sector.

SEMCLIMED

Impact of the Climatic Change on the Mediterranean Flora and Conservation Actions

August 2006 - April 2008

SEMCLIMED aims to deepen knowledge of the effect of climate change on seed germination of species characteristic from different Mediterranean environments and to improve the mechanisms for conservation, working as a cooperative network of seedbanks, NGOs and research centres. It followed up on the GENMEDOC project with the establishment of the GENMEDA network.

GENMEDOC

Creation d’un reseau de centres de conservation du material genetique de la flore des regions mediterraneennes de l’espace MEDOCC

June 2005 - May 2006

GENMEDOC aims to promote the exchange of technical information and the adoption of common protocols in the domain of conservation of the genetic resources of Mediterranean flora taxa and to share the experience of a great part of the MEDOCC territory. It contributed to setting up GENMEDA.
